Manchester United FC: Why the Club Isn’t Panicking Despite a Rough Start – September 4, 2024

A Challenging Start

As Manchester United fans, we’re all feeling the sting of a rocky start to the Premier League season. After a promising win in our opener, a late goal by Joshua Zirkzee seemed to signal good things ahead. However, things quickly took a downturn. We fell to Brighton in stoppage time and were thrashed 3-0 at home by Liverpool last week. With only three points from our first three matches, it’s no wonder people are starting to worry.

No Immediate Changes

Despite these rough patches, the club isn’t rushing to make drastic changes. Reports suggest that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team are holding off on any knee-jerk reactions. Even though the pressure is mounting on Erik ten Hag, and calls for his dismissal are surfacing again, the club’s leadership isn’t ready to act impulsively. They’ve decided to give him time to turn things around.

The Bigger Picture

It’s important to remember that last season was far from ideal; we finished eighth, our worst-ever Premier League position. However, instead of firing Ten Hag right away, the new owners chose to focus on revamping the club’s structure. They’ve brought in new signings like Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte, Leny Yoro, and Matthijs de Ligt. Alongside these new faces, we’ve also seen changes in our background staff, including a new CEO and sporting director. The hope is that these changes will soon start to show positive results.

What’s Next for Us?

Looking ahead, Ten Hag will be hoping that the international break provides enough time to address the issues we’ve been facing. Our next big test will be against newly-promoted Southampton on September 14. They’re currently at the bottom of the table with no points, so it’s a chance for us to get back on track and prove our worth.

So, while the start of the season hasn’t been perfect, let’s stay hopeful. The club is showing patience, and with some strategic adjustments, we might just turn things around soon.
